GGG fights on Saturday, how much does it really matter?

For you and me? Not much.

For him, this one matters a lot. To not drop the ball here.

Look the man is in desperate need of a 3rd fight with Canelo. It’s really the only big payday left in his career and the only middleweight match up featuring the Kazakh that fans will really show up in droves for.

He fired his long time trainer Abel Sanchez. He’s in the twilight of his career.

He signed with DAZN. Good move if he wants another title shot considering DAZN has Canelo and Demetrius Andrade.

I don’t see Gennadiy Golovkin making another run hockey stick run on his popularity chart. The last big change for him is a final payday with Canelo. Although Canelo’s camp hasn’t absolutely ruled it out, they need to be careful picking the most meaningful fights (advances on chess board) for Canelo’s brand and he is now on his legacy shit. Remember, although they were close fights the record books are already recorded as 2-0 against Golovkin.

So Gennadiy Gennadyevich Golovkin must impress his new bosses this weekend and keep the public’s interest (and the powers that be) long enough that he might get that trilogy fight. That’s all.
