Wilder-Stiverne 2, Joshua recap, USAB Alumni Association

This week’s edition of Boxing TL;DR coming to you on a Saturday again. Thursday night writing time was spent getting things done to allow me the chance do some color commentary of a fight broadcast from the Fite.tv app at Valley Fight Night. I was asked to do it on short notice, next time if I have a little more notice I’ll be sure to give my readers the heads up so you can check it out if you want.

I know this is a late send off and there’s not a lot of time before Wilder – Stiverne 2 tonight so I’ll keep this brief.

So after all my pleading did you check out Anthony Joshua?

If you didn’t catch his fight last week against Carlos Takam here is the highlight video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuBUeZ2jWns

Yes, a lot of people think that it was actually an early stoppage and I agree. This is one of the frustrating parts of boxing, but you’re dealing with human error. Some refs are inclined to be a little more cautious. And of course others have officiated fights they wish they had called off just a moment too early.

Anyway the most important thing coming away from this fight is the potential match up Anthony Joshua might have against Deontay Wilder if the stars line up.

Deonday “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder is fighting tonight. Soon actually so close this email and turn on your TV! He’s fighting a familiar opponent in Bermane Stiverne, whom he already beat in 2015. The reason for this though was because his fight scheduled with Luis “King Kong” Ortiz was cancelled after Ortiz was found to have some PEDs in his system, if you remember from the newsletter a few weeks ago.

Wilder vows he will retire if he loses tonight against Stiverne. *Yawn* That’s just a desperate promo attempt to sell you a fight with an opponent you’ve seen before. We’ll at least it’s free (if you have Showtime).
